FCA GAP Insurance Update

As a leading online provider of Gap Insurance, we have always taken pride in our role within the industry since our founding in 2009. Our mission has been to offer critical financial protection to our customers, ensuring they are not left bearing a financial burden in the event of a total loss.

Recently, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has made a significant decision to suspend all insurers from providing Gap Insurance until further notice. This decision has undoubtedly raised concerns among consumers and providers alike. We wish to address this situation directly and assure our valued customers and partners of our stance and ongoing commitment during this period.

The FCA’s decision to group specialist online providers (such as ourselves) and car dealers, many of whom have charged up to four times as much for Gap Insurance, is disappointing, but we hope the outcome is that of a fairer landscape for consumers that Direct Gap have championed since 2009.

We want to emphasise that all existing policies issued by us remain valid and in force. Our customers remain our number one priority, and we will continue to honour the terms of all active policies.
